What to look out for at the 2014 Paris Boat Show

Motorboat & Yachting: The French capital will be full of boats for the next week, so the key models have been picked out on display at the 2014 Paris Boat Show, check out Hall 4 which will feature an indoor marina.

The 2014 boating season is almost over, but there is one last event to come before Christmas – the Salon Nautique Paris Boat Show.

A new feature for 2014 is the indoor marina in Hall 4 (see picture), which includes a raised walkway, making it easier to wander onto the display boats.

As well as the two main French powerhouses of Beneteau and Jeanneau there are plenty of international manufacturers displaying at the Porte de Versailles event. Around 240,000 people are expect to visit the show, which runs from 6-14 December.

Flying the flag for Britain at the 2014 Paris Boat Show is Broom, who will be bringing the new Broom 430 aft-cabin model over from Brundall in Norfolk. They will be joined by British dealers Dickies, who will be representing Beneteau and Monte Carlo Yachts, while the Ancasta stand will have models from Lagoon, Prestige and Beneteau. Travelling even further is Polish manufacturer Galeon, which is displaying four models, including the world premiere of the 305HTS.

Meanwhile Beneteau will be celebrating its 50th anniversary by driving three Flyer models 30 miles up the River Seine from Ile des Impressionnistes to Port Javel. Upon their arrival they will be joined by 15 more Beneteau powerboat models, including the GT 49 Fly and the Monte Carlo 5. The MC5 should draw big crowds to the Beneteau stand.

Jeanneau has also assembled an impressive fleet, comprised of 31 sail and power models ranging in size from the 4.7m Cap Camarat CC to the Prestige 500. And catamaran fans will find plenty of interest on the Jaguar stand, where the JC48 and JC47T powercats will both be on display.

Key attractions at the show include the prize giving ceremony for the Route Du Rhum trans-Atlantic race, so keep an eye out for Sir Robin Knox-Johnson if you’re going on the opening day.

Then on Sunday 7 December 400 competitors will race 7 miles across Paris on stand-up paddleboards, starting at the Bibliothèque National France and finishing up at Port Javel.

Advance tickets to the 2014 Paris Boat Show are priced at 12 euros (£9.50) for adults and 8 euros for 16-18 year-olds. Those flying to Paris can get up to 10% off with Air France or KLM.
