Rolls-Royce presents new Yacht Propulsion Systems in Genoa

Yachting Boating World: Rolls-Royce is presenting the latest MTU propulsion systems and MTU bridge components at the Salone Nautico in Genoa.

Rolls-Royce is presenting the latest MTU propulsion systems, MTU bridge components, MTU automation products for yachts and the new global customer service and support programme, Premium Yacht Service, at the Salone Nautico in Genoa from 30 September to 05 October 2015.

On show at Stand L8-M9 will be a remote control desk featuring the new Pininfarina-design bridge components, together with a simulator that will allow visitors to test out all functions. The new bridge components are intended to be on the market from spring 2016.

Also on show by MTU will be a model of the advanced-design Series 2000 engine, which also incorporates a ZF gearbox. The MTU brand is part of Rolls-Royce Power Systems within the Land & Sea division of Rolls-Royce.

In the Series 2000 M96, MTU has its latest yacht engine technology on show. This power unit follows on from a long tradition of reliable and efficient high-performance yacht engines from MTU. The new design is distinguished by improved acceleration capabilities and economical fuel consumption – and meets the EPA Tier 3 exhaust emission standard for leisure craft.

It is available as a 12-cylinder or 16-cylinder version with power ratings from 1,268 to 1,939 kW.

“Since the market launch in 2014, we have already supplied more than 200 engines to clients. And the new engine is now in use in numerous yachts in Europe and the USA,” said Nadine Buhmann, head of marine and offshore business at MTU.
