Motorboat & Yachting: Ferretti Group dealers Ventura have released details of the Riva model that they will be bringing to the 2016 London Boat Show.

The Ventura stand at the London Boat Show is always very popular, and the Ferretti Group dealer hopes to continue this trend in 2016 with its latest Riva display.

Heading to the Excel Centre for next month’s ten-day event is a unique Riva Aquariva that has been finished in Bentley blue to match the owner’s luxury car.

Built in 2009, but evoking the classic styling that made Riva a worldwide name in the 1950s and 60s, the Bentley-edition Aquariva is up for sale with an asking price of €395,000 (approx £288,000).

Powered by a pair of 380hp Yanmar 6 LY3/UP engines, Bentley Blue is capable of a top speed of 42 knots.

This display will replace the secret auction for a classic Riva that Ventura has run for the past two years.

A spokesperson for Ventura said: “A new Bentley to match this Aquariva is of course readily available should anyone wish to recreate the set, but there’s unlikely ever to be another boat like this!”

Bentley Blue will go on display at the Excel Centre from January 8-17 on Stand A120. Advance tickets to the London Boat Show are on sale now, with prices starting from £10 per adult.

Motorboat & Yachting: The Plymouth-based boatbuilder has confirmed that it will be bringing the new Princess 75 to the London Boat Show.

Princess Yachts has announced that it will be bringing the new Princess 75 to the London Boat Show, confirming the leaked information we reported last month.

The Plymouth-based yard explains that its launch is ahead of schedule and that the Princess 75 will replace the 88MY in the line-up heading to the Excel Centre next month (8-17 January).

Performance will be a key selling point, with a choice of three engine set-ups offering an estimated top speed of 35 knots.

Up on the flybridge, owners will find three seats at the helm station, a U-shaped dining area and sunpad aft.

Moving onto the main deck and the unique floor-to-ceiling window on the port side provides a real wow-factor.

Accommodation is provided by three en-suite guest cabins in the bows and an amidships owner’s cabin, which gets its own private staircase.

Other key features include a walk-through bow seating area and sliding glass doors that allow for a seamless flow between the cockpit and saloon.

Motorboat & Yachting: American superyacht yard Palmer Johnson has released renders of a Bugatti speedboat, which has been licensed by the Italian supercar supremos.

Fancy a Bugatti speedboat to go with your Bugatti Veyron? That mouth-watering idea could soon be a reality, after Palmer Johnson revealed they have been working with the Italian supercar builders.

The Bugatti Niniette range is only in the concept stage at the moment, but the initial renderings are very promising indeed.

First up would be a 63ft model, called the Bugatti PJ63, which would feature a carbon fibre hull and have a top speed of 38 knots.

The starting price for the first Bugatti speedboat would be a cool €3.25m (£2.33m), and for this price you would get a 63m2 cockpit as well as a 43m2 saloon below decks.

Speaking of the decks, owners will get a choice of finish, from brown bubinga or maple to naturally blue morta oak wood. Optional extras include a hardtop bimini.

Further down the line, the range would be expanded to include a 42ft entry-level model and an 88ft superyacht, Palmer Johnson adds.

Dr. Stefan Brungs, sales and marketing director at Bugatti, said of the design: “This very special project brings together two brands with more than 100 years of experience in high-end hand crafting in their respective fields.

“Palmer Johnson has created not only an incredibly elegant and beautiful yacht but also a masterpiece of craftsmanship featuring carbon fibre, titanium and precious wood. This collector’s item will thrill maritime aficionados.”

The design is noticeably Palmer Johnson, with the reverse-entry prow and flared sponsons evoking the styling of the SuperSport 38M.

Meanwhile, for a touch of Bugatti heritage, the elegantly curved transom features the iconic EB emblem.

Timur Mohamed, owner of Palmer Johnson, added: “We are proud to be able to use Bugatti’s name and design DNA for our exciting new model line.

“Bugatti and Palmer Johnson are united by the vision of not just thinking outside the box but moving into completely uncharted waters.”

Motorboat & Yachting: The Ferretti Group has revealed details of its upcoming Pershing 140 superyacht, which will be the first of the range to be built from aluminium.

Following on from the Monaco Yacht Show announcement that it would be building a 140ft Pershing, the Ferretti Group has given more details on its latest superyacht project.

Due to be launched in 2018, the Pershing 140 will be built from aluminium – the first model in this range to use such a material.

Designed by naval architect Fulvio de Simoni, the new superyacht will be built at the Ferretti Group’s Ancona shipyard – another first for the Pershing brand.

The aluminium hull will provide the basis for a composite superstructure that de Simoni describes as “imposing but not too austere”.

Key features include an owner’s cabin situated to the fore of the main deck and two integrated side wings that help to shelter the cockpit.

As you would expect on a model of this size, the interior design and layout is largely bespoke, with owners invited to discuss their requirements with the Ferretti Group’s engineering department.

The standard layout features four cabins (three doubles, one twin) as well as additional crew cabins.

All three engine options are provided by MTU, with the largest set-up featuring four 2,600hp M94 engines for an estimated top speed of 38 knots.

The Pershing 140 isn’t due to hit the water until 2018, but Ferretti CEO Alberto Galassi is already getting excited: “I can’t wait for this incredible vessel to be built: I want to see it growing month after month.”

Monterey Boats will be returning to Britain, after Gibbs Boat Sales was named as sole UK distributor for the American sportsboat brand.

Motorboat & Yachting: A leaked image appears to show the new Princess 75, which could be getting a public launch at the London Boat Show.

Back in September, when Princess Yachts revealed the renderings of its next two models – the Princess 75 and the Princess 49 – the smart money seemed to be on the smaller of the two models getting launched first.

However, it now seems that it is the Princess 75 that will be ready in time for the London Boat Show, after this behind-the-scenes picture was leaked.

A source close to Princess told MBY: “They’re planning to do a surprise launch at the Excel Centre, with the Princess 75 taking the place of the 88 MY.”

The news comes less than a week after Princess Motor Yacht Sales released a full-line-up of 11 boats due to make the journey up from Plymouth to London, with the Princess 88 as the star attraction.

There was no mention of either the Princess 49 or the Princess 75, much to the consternation of Princess Yachts fans hoping for a brand new model to view.

But if this leaked picture is to be believed, then it seems like the Princess team had a rather large trick up their sleeve all along.

Early details indicate that the Princess 75 will be fitted with a choice of three engines, the most powerful of which being a twin MAN V12 1800 set-up, capable of a top speed of 36 knots.

Motorboat & Yachting: The French boating giant has announced that it will be launching the Bénéteau GT46 at next month’s Paris Boat Show.

Not content with the impending launch of the Swift Trawler 30, Beneteau has revealed that it will also be launching a new 44ft sportscruiser at the 2015 Paris Boat Show (December 5-13) in the form of the Bénéteau GT46.

As the pictures above show, it bears more than a striking resemblance to the Beneteau GT40, which was launched this summer.

However, the new arrival will also come with a full-beam owners cabin amidships as well as a forecabin that can be set up as either a double bed or a V-shaped twin berth.

A three-cabin layout with bunk beds replacing the lower saloon will also be offered as an alternative.

Power will come from a choice of Volvo Penta engine set-ups, either IPS 600 or twin 400hp sterndrives.

This should carry the Bénéteau GT46’s second generation Air Step planning hull to a top speed of more than 30 knots.

However, the modestly sized 900l fuel tank means this model will be more suited to short-range coastal cruising than tackling long passages.

The main galley is situated on the lower decks to free up more socialising space in the open-plan cockpit/saloon, although those looking to cook al fresco can make use of the transom wetbar and grill.

Other key features include electrically opening side windows, curved galley skylight, and high-low hydraulic bathing platform.

Motorboat & Yachting: Grammy award winning singer Billy Joel has turned his hand to yacht design once again with the 57ft Vendetta.

Billy Joel has teamed up with Zurn Yacht Design to create a new 57ft motorboat, which was unveiled at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show earlier this month.

Vendetta is a 57ft commuter yacht, which the Grammy award-winning singer designed to get him from his Long Island estate to the centre of New York City.

A modified V-hull and twin 1,300hp MAN diesel engines mean it is capable of an impressive top speed of 47 knots, despite weighing in at more than 18 tonnes.

Key features include seating space for six in the 1920s-style saloon and an open layout below decks, which includes a galley, settee and heads compartment up in the bows.

Billy Joel has a strong track record with designing motor yachts – his previous launch, a 38ft Zurn runabout, has been reproduced more than 50 times in the past ten years.

Motorboat & Yachting: The German boatbuilder has revealed details of the Bavaria Project DA10 ahead of its planned Spring 2016 launch.

Bavaria Yachtbau has released detailed renderings of its upcoming new arrival, which is being developed under the codename Project DA10 and features a number of bold new ideas.

For this 40ft semi-displacement design, Bavaria has teamed up with Netherlands design firm Vripack and the Dutch influence is clear to see.

Project DA10 will feature single-level walkaround side decks and a saloon that is almost entirely encircled by glass.

Both flybridge and sedan versions will be available with a lower helm that is situated in the centre of the boat, towards the rear of the saloon.

Below decks, owners will have a choice of a two or three-cabin layout, with the former boasting a full-beam master suite and VIP forecabin.

However, those who want to maximise their capacity can opt to have two crawl-in double berths in the rear, as well as a V-shaped twin cabin in the bows.

Out in the cockpit, the DA10 will feature a large wrap of outdoor seating and a staircase that folds out of the transom moulding.

Engine options are by Volvo Penta, ranging from 75hp to 300hp, and Bavaria explains that Project DA10 has been “designed not for speeding, but on economical cruising, safety, comfort and a travelling in harmony with nature”.

Further details and an official model name for Project DA10 are due to be announced in January at the 2016 Boot Dusseldorf exhibition, ahead of its planned Spring 2016 launch.

Motorboat & Yachting: The Galeon 420 Fly offers a huge amount of customisation – including the choice between shafts, sterndrives and IPS pods – solid build quality and a keen price, we put it to the test in Southampton.

With the 500 Fly scooping up all of the admiring glances at the Cannes Boat Show, this seemed a perfect time to test one of the more “bread and butter” boats in the range, the Galeon 420 Fly.

Galeon has an incredibly liberal approach to the amount of personalisation available to the customer even on a boat of this size.

To give you an idea you can have two or three cabins, eight different types of interior wood, a dizzying array of upholstery and fabrics, four different engine options and the choice between shafts, sterndrives or IPS pod drives.

Our test boat had quite a traditional set up with a pair of Volvo Penta’s D6 435hp motors on shafts, delivering a top speed of just over 30 knots.

Though not the most exciting drivetrain on offer, the shafts offer a good balance between sweet handling and that familiar solidity that so many people like about this method of propulsion.

I did find that from the lower helm the boat responded well to half tab to get the bow cutting nicely through the waves and lower the bow to improve the helmsman’s view out.

And though the one-piece windscreen is great, the large mullions either side needed to provide support obstruct the view either side quite badly.
